Personal Note

It sure is hard to believe that just two weeks ago we had 6” of snow on the ground! Since that time Spring has definitely sprung and we have been busy bee’s getting the store ready for you. This time of year always reminds me that I’m not a teenager anymore. After a long day of moving plants, unloading trucks and waiting on customers my 49 year old back feels it!

There are a couple of new trends we see developing for 2009. The new buzz word in our industry is “staycation”. The thought is that since lots of people may be cutting vacations out during this time of uncertainty the focus on sprucing up the house will become a priority. At Stringer’s we have come up with several programs to help you with this. The most popular is our We Plan You Plant program. You can get the details on our website but this is a great way to avoid any expensive and time consuming mistakes while making your backyard worthy of a “staycation’! Another is our Dream Decks and Patio program. Everybody loves the wonderful container gardens you see these days but may need a little help in putting a plan together for the whole patio. Once again check out our website for details. Through our relationship with Carolina Nurseries (the best grower in the country) we have lots of great plant programs like Made in the Shade and Nook and Crannies that will make it easy for you to find the right plants for your particular need.

Edibles are also going to be a big deal this year. As always we will have a great selection of herbs, veggies, fruits and fruit trees for you to choose from. You will also be able to find all the best organic fertilizers to make your edible garden the best! Our team of experts will always be on hand to make sure you get just what you need the first time around.

So with people staying home on “staycations” and planting their own food crops it sounds like another busy year for me and our employees. That’s ok because making your home beautiful and more valuable is what we love to do and have been doing for over 50 years! Now if anybody has any ideas for a worn out back?
